Bespoke statement earrings

I found The Southampton Bead Shop at a recent craft event in London, and spent nearly an hour picking out a selection of coloured rivoli crystals (basically a foiled, shallow point back for glueing into settings).

They were very inexpensive and are set easily into the matching findings to make quick earrings, pendants and bracelets in a bespoke colour combination.

You only need a very thin layer of glue under the rivoli, as it will spread out across the surface as you press and evacuate the air, forming a great seal. Don't worry if a little bit squishes out around the edge as you press the rivoli in. Leave this to dry rather than trying to rub it away (it will just smudge over the crystal surface!) and you will find you can peel it away once the glue has set to its normal rubbery consistency.

You could pick a classic combination like this clear and gold-tone, or modernised your look with some acid green or hot pink.

My next step is a bracelet using the royal blue rivolis and little diamanté spacers you see in the first photo - I fell in love with this colour immediately.

There are lots of bead shops online now, selling a whole variety of stones and findings. These little projects are so quick - you can finish a set of earrings in ten minutes and wear them later the same day...
